When is cheerleading season?

July: clinics, camp & practice

August: practice & pre-season games

Sept - Nov: regular season games and post-season playoffs/championships

1st Sunday in Nov: Northern VA Youth Cheer Performance Day

When are cheerleading practices? Can parents/siblings stay and observe:

August: Outdoor. 2014 dates TBD

After Labor Day: Indoor. 2014 dates TBD

Cheerleaders need to focus on their instruction and their coaches. Parents should plan to wait in an area away from the practice site. Siblings/friends must stay with parents and be supervised at all times. We ask that you not engage with the cheerleaders until practice ends.

When are football games? Will my child cheer at more than one game per weekend?

Most games are on Saturday, beginning as early as 10:00a or as late at 8:00p, depending on the age-range. During the regular season, LFFL Cheerleaders cheer HOME games only at Lee District RECenter. Your cheerleader will usually cheer one game per weekend. On occasion, your cheerleader may also have a fundraiser or other special activity, separate from the games. These events are communicated in advance. Playoff & Championship games are often AWAY games elsewhere in the county. All cheerleaders are expected to attend all games (home or away) until the season ends.

My other children play football -- can my cheerleader be assigned to cheer for their teams?

Cheerleaders are not assigned to a specific football team - we have more many more football teams than cheer squads. We will cheer for various age/weight classes, and unfortunately, do not guarantee that a cheerleader will cheer for a sibling's team.

I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old. Will they be on the same cheerleading squad?

Not likely! We divide the cheerleaders by developmental ability/skill, age/grade, and by squad need.

What is Performance Day?

Performance Day is a special cheerleading event hosted by our parent league, Northern Virginia Youth Cheerleading. It is a non-competitive showcase of cheer skills. View a past Performance Day video here on the home page, on our Facebook page or on our YouTube channel (Lee Franconia Cheer).
